Hit or miss manager by chance

Pros

Team environment; great Science; cutting edge techinology.

Cons

Bureaucracy everywhere. Managers are hit and miss. Some “‘managers” clearly lacks management skills and use people only for their personal advancement. All words no action. Not taking practical steps that actually are benefiting staff. Paying on the low end of industry standard while gaslighting people saying they are here for the value and science. If that’s case then maybe cut down the bureaucracy. Internal competition is sometimes ridiculous.

Pros

New departments are efficient and operate like agile startups. High focus on DEI&B efforts are encouraging.

Cons

The overall company is bloated and sluggish due to inability to remove middle management whose only purpose seems to be to maintain their own positions and optimize to minimize their own work.
