Pros

Dedicated, unselfish and hard working staff! They are always willing make sacrifices to help other co-workers. You can develop a real sense of community at the lower levels of the organization.

Cons

Interesting comment (probably by executive leadership) that ‘change isn't for everyone’ (6/21). I would argue based on my experience that no one represents this comment more than the executives (especially in finance). They are unwilling to accept the fact that they have a greater responsibility than individual contributors. They are unwilling to change. More specially, they lack the balance and the character needed to stand up under the demands of leadership. No one would argue ‘Change’ is necessary however I believe leadership uses this word as a euphemism for cutting costs (layoffs) to manage he bottom line and then asks employees to do more with less. When it comes to the bottom line, they are compensated based on share price and will protect that at all costs.

Pros

Pay is decent but doesn't make up for toxic culture.

Cons

CEO is unethical and dishonest and makes snap judgments about people. Majority of executives are out of touch with how horrible of a work environment this company has become and most of it is attributed to their poor interpersonal skills, unwillingness to accept feedback and unfair treatment of employees outside their circle of favorites. If you don't just cater to their style you are not respected or given a chance to succeed. HR won't follow practices to address and hotline is non effective. Retaliation exists and is subtle so many are blind to what occurs. There are many companies to choose from..this one will beat you down.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry your time at Alliant Energy didn’t meet your expectations. Our company is currently undergoing a transformation like many other companies across the country. We ask our team members to be flexible and nimble as we serve customers in new and creative ways. We also recognize that working at Alliant Energy isn't the right fit for everyone. Your feedback is taken seriously, and we want you to know we are listening. We do not condone leading by intimidation and encourage employees to use any of our available avenues to report unethical actions and behaviors. We have several ways to report unethical actions and behaviors available including an anonymous reporting hotline and, depending on the situation, the use of external investigators. Human Resources does keep all reports confidential and there are processes in place to uphold the integrity of that reporting. We would also like to encourage you, just like we encourage all employees, to call us directly. You can call 1-800-255-4268 and ask to speak with Alliant Energy's Human Resource Department, where we are always open to continuing the conversation. Thanks again for taking the time to leave this review, and we wish you the best in your career.

Evil and No Integrity

Pros

The salary is probably it...not much more i can think of.

Cons

The executive leadership and many directors are just downright evil. They are mostly Yes people trying to protect their personal jobs and high salaries. They have no courage to do the right thing. They will tell upper management what the want to hear. They will demote and fire long time hard working employees as scapegoats. It is truly a backwards and dysfunctional. HR will not help as no follow up was done when i reported this. Sweep it under the rug. The leadership fosters this toxic and evil environment. No one wants to stand up and do the right thing because it gets punished. Beware if you are considering this place!!!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on working at Alliant Energy. We do take any reports of unhealthy work environments and bullying very seriously. It is important to us and an expectation that all employees live our values. Leading by intimidation is not acceptable or tolerated in our organization, and we have avenues for our employees to report any unethical actions and behaviors. Those avenues include an anonymous reporting hotline and, depending on the situation, the use of external investigators. We would also like to encourage you, just like we encourage all employees, to call us directly at 1-800-255-4268 and ask to speak with Alliant Energy's Human Resource Department, where we would like to better understand your feedback and continue the conversation.
