Pros

Decent pay, adequate benefits, many positions available, union supported. I was so proud and happy and excited to join this company when I started here a year and a half ago!

Cons

Undesirable schedule (12 hour day/night rotation, every other weekend? Nah.), *awful* patient ratios, stonewalling/out of touch upper management, financial mismanaging leading to staffing cuts. For Allina hospital nurses, expect to be chronically overburdened with heavy and unrealistic patient assignments, particularly on the medical floors. You’ll often not have time to take a break. Stuff gets missed because people are too busy to get to everything and patient care has definitely suffered for it. Retaliation for refusing unsafe assignments not unheard of.

Pros

the coworkers are the reason I show up

Cons

Allina health is not patient focused, Increasing patient to staff ratios, removing common courtesies for patients, increasing insurance cost for employees every year, removing extra services to inpatients, refusing care/turning away patients at clinics with large outstanding bills.

Pros

- Union positions - MNA pension plan - health insurance - competitive pay - lots of different specialties

Cons

-Allina has been steadily increasing nurse-to-patient ratios and nurse aid-to-patient ratios without providing extra resources to ensure timely patient care. - Working for Allina is exhausting because upper mgmt does not seem to care about the struggle of the workers and will often not address concerns. -Patient safety events happen regularly, especially with the newly increased nurse to patient ratio on most units. It feels unsafe to work here as a nurse. Turnover rates are high. -If you are an RN, it will be very difficult to get the breaks you are guaranteed in your contract.
