Pros

I work with very good people. We are allowed to work from home 1 day a week. The benefits are good. $300.00 deductible per person per year. $10.00 copays (Allina First Plan).

Cons

PTO for holidays, sick time, and vacation is combined, holidays are not paid, you take vacation time for all holidays and all sick time. Allina eliminated their pension program. This went away a few years ago. In times of an unsteady economy, a pension is important. No incentive programs for employee morale or rewards for doing a good job. They have $25.00 drawings for gift cards but extremely rare. Hard to receive a promotion or move up in your position unless you move to a different job altogether. Very stagnant growth opportunities. They are always cutting back on spending and combining jobs/managers to eliminate costs. Need more flexibility in work/life balance.

Pros

Allina celebrates diversity and treats all employees equally. I never received any sort of discrimination. Good health insurance, generally wonderful colleagues.

Cons

Allina has changed management over the past five years and has changed from an employee/patient focus to a profit-based focus. They have laid people off and transferred the workload of 2-3 people onto 1 person in order to cut costs and increase profit. This leads to unhappy employees who stop caring about their work which in turn affects patient care.

Pros

My co-workers are awesome! I love working with some of my co-workers, they are the nicest people ever. You accumulated PTO faster than most places that I had worked in the past. The benefit is pretty nice as long as you stay in-network. I believe in Allina's mission and love the way it gearing toward in the future.

Cons

The attendance policy: if your one minute late, you'll get half a point. If you get 4 full points, you will be fired. I hated that we need pto for everything. You have to used pto for sick day, holiday, being late to work, just about everything. I have to question how some people become supervisors or manager, especially if they have never been trained in that department. In my department, my supervisor is pretty bad; our day is determine by her mood. If she is happy, work is fine that day. If she is mad for whatever reason, our day will be bad. Management need more training in my department. Also, there is ways to much favoritism in my department that it causes problem with the employees.
