Pros

Respected company Some great leaders and team members Good benefits, ERG's, and engagement efforts

Cons

Ally always says that they treat all employees with an owner mindset, truly care about their feedback, and always want to keep open communication and improve but I just don't see that anymore. They are cutting corners everywhere due to essentialism and saving money through a looming recession yet, they continue to dictate every move employees make. They said we were going to work with employees and show empathy/be flexible with the rigid return to office expectations but as a manager, that has been the complete opposite. The Senior Director of our department picks and chooses who she allows to be remote based only off of whether she likes that person or not yet she never comes to office. We have team members who professionally shared legitimate concerns about their mental health and abilities in an open office environment that is not supportive of those with ADHD, autism, sensory differences, mental health/anxiety/depression needs. These people were performing amazingly remote for the past 2.5 years. They are professional, able, dedicated, hard workers who contribute and care about the company and prove their owner mindset through solid results and innovation. They are always professional, caring, empathetic, and willing to grow and be selfless for the company's bottom line. Yet, when they shared their different learning styles and that they truly work better in a controlled, distraction free remote environment, they were treated as less professional and able. We as managers and leaders were still made to force them into an environment that is not conducive to their different abilities and learning/productivity needs. All the while they are sinking and not able to perform as well in an office environment due to no fault of their own, yet we are allowing friends and those favorite employees who work no harder but suck up to leadership remain remote. This most concerning part of all this is that in all of our leadership meetings, the CEO, President, and HR have labeled these employees with different abilities who share concern and honest feedback, who trusted us to support them, who were honest with us about their needs and shared constructive criticism about diversity and differently able perspective, as bad apples. These honest, hardworking employees who do the hardest work for our company have been reduced to troublemakers and employees that need to be targeted and pushed out of the door. We have been told that they are ruining the company culture and are a risk. These employees have given their all to Ally for years yet Ally wants to throw them away like garbage all because they can't function well in an office environment. We always say we value diversity, honest communication, and support mental health and different abilities but I truly don't see that from leadership. After years of service to this once amazing company, I am heartbroken that our employees are being reduced to butts in seats in an office to be controlled and monitored at all times. I am heartbroken that we are not being allowed to positively support the needs of our employees and allow them the work life balance to thrive and choose what works best for their learning style. I am heartbroken that these employees who trusted us with their concerns are being treated as trouble makers. Please please please, respect your employees and treat them like the adults they have proven themselves to be.

Pros

Good resume builder, skill building development, and diversity

Cons

Boomer mentality of C suite worship. Out of touch work environment where the older workers at the top really don't understand the current workforce and don't care to learn. Passive aggressive internal branding to employees. In office worship culture with a toxic "we are a family" vibe. Nah, you are not my family. I have a family at home I barely get to see anymore because I spend 20 hours a week on the daily grind commuting to the office. I would much rather have my personal time back to spend with my actual family and to build relationships with my actual friends. I do not need forced socialization at work. I sit alone at a desk all day on zoom calls with maybe 10 other people on my floor. Some of the people on my calls are in the office but on different floors so we may as well all be at home aside from the occasional on site meetings and events. Classic boomer mentality completely ignoring the fact that we have performed way better in the 2.5 years at home. Completely ignoring the high turnover and rock bottom employee morale. It is pretty cringe how they force us in the office for culture but that culture is only subordination, backstabbing to get ahead and look good for leadership, and petty politics. Nobody here is your friend. Get all the executives and executive directors out for some fresh, innovative young talent.

Pros

Ally provides a great benefits package, including insurance, 401K match, PTO, etc.

Cons

The reality is Ally is not the company it used to be. They're saying all the right words but the actions just aren't there. I diversity programs appear to be for show, likely a regulatory/fed requirement. The only diversity efforts within Supply Chain are trying to bring on diverse suppliers and adding the appropriate reporting language to the contracts. There are no women executives in Supply Chain and clearly no desire to add any. If you're a white male, you'll go far. I used to love working for this company but the train is way off the tracks and I don't see any (positive) change(s) coming. Women are leaving in droves out of Supply Chain and no one seems concerned. There are, however, other departments where diversity is apparent. It's a shame that it's not incorporated across the organization. When it comes to Covid, employees working very successfully from home for over two years. Ally seemed super supportive and, again, said all the right words. However, as soon as numbers started to decline, there was a strong demand to be in the office. A lot of passive-aggressive messaging. They want to follow the stance of the big banks, except they aren't a big bank. They finally backed off when the negative news came out about JP Morgan demanding employees return to office using much of the same messaging Ally was using. Ally leadership has since backed off but I expect that to change. Attrition is high and people will continue to leave because they don't want the pressure of physically having to be in the office. Ally had record numbers for the last two and a half years so clearly, being 'better when we're together' is false messaging and the employees see right past it.
