Pros

I've been to many places and worked at University in a teaching institution, and other FQHCs, and this is by far the most excellent place for me to work at. Everyone is about the AltaMed mission, To Eliminate Disparities in healthcare access and outcomes for the Latinx, multi-ethnic and underserved communities in southern California. This is the exact reason I went to medical school. I do plan on retiring here.

Cons

The place is enormous! 3,500 employees. It has been a work in progress to make sure all know what each other is doing. There has been much improvement in this, and more to go.

Pros

Front line staff are great.

Cons

Below the line decision making by upper management. They do not care about the community at all. A family run FQHC which shouldn’t be a thing (unqualified family members of the CEO running large departments).

Pros

Strong sense of mission both for helping the underserved and investment into their employees. This is one of the few companies that I've experienced that holds tightly onto their mission statement. The culture of the company is both work hard and play hard. It becomes your family.

Cons

Some patients can be challenging, as is the same for anywhere. Pay isn't as much as other places.
