Pros

Discount and the fabulous ladies that became my dear friends.

Cons

I’m sure people are going to think, these are just written by disgruntled employees. You’re right. We are BECAUSE of this company. I had so much hope for this environment because I thought they shared the same values as me. But I was wrong. I have worked for the company twice, in a store and the home office. They do not value their employees. You are told to be kind when you are treated like scum. You get sick and call out, you get ignored and ostracized. Your kid needs you, too bad. The department comes first. They expect the company to come first and not your personal life. Guest services is a joke. Most of the people in that department don’t know how to do their jobs and the leadership that runs it, absolute idiots who will treat you like s***. They don’t even know how to properly do the job in the department. They certainly can’t train either. I am so sad that this position didn’t work out. I really wanted it to, but it was destroying my mental health and physically.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Pros

Relatively high pay was the only pro. But since cutting the salary from $16 to $12 for associates and $20 to $17 for leads, there are zero benefits.

Cons

Horrible management and toxic work environment. Altar'd State talks a big talk of religious values, positivity, and caring for employees. But this company is run on scare tactics and verbal abuse. The seem to believe selling clothing requires as much life dedication and intensity as brain surgery. Nothing is ever done well enough and you can never work enough hours to make management happy. When guests walk in they see peppy, happy workers because we are literally fired if we do not behave that way. The CEO places highest important on "secret shops" which are guests who are payed to shop in the store then submit a review to management. Any score below a 90 is considered failing and they will immediately ask for your resignation if you fail, regardless of the rest of your performance. DO NOT work for this company, it strips you of dignity, identity, joy, and peace. The company is also very clearly starting to go under and instead of motivating employees, they are yelling and blaming and taking everybody down with them.

Pros

You will learn how to overcome the hardest situations in your career. You will be emotionally damaged but you’ll get tough.

Cons

As a Store Leader I am no longer able to staff the store. The recent pay cuts have completely removed any ability to be competitive. There really is no other store in the mall paying these rates. The medical benefits are now changing. The inconsistent bonuses are gone. The CEO is racist, sexist, and unprofessional. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS.
