Pros

The best things about this company were the team I created and the beautiful stores.

Cons

Most management above the store leader role are uncommunicative, unethical, and just as depressed as they made us. DL made it unbearable to work there. I frequently was “encouraged” to work off the clock, work my team off the clock, and work 45hrs+ a week, despite using all my payroll and making my sales plan. As a punishment for poor numbers, I was not allowed to take two days off in a row without permission from DL, until my numbers improved. My DL told me that working 40hrs a week was the “bare minimum” and that I should “want to be in your business 7 days a week.” She had no interest in developing based off of peoples strengths, but rather forces her team to conforms to what she believes her best qualities are. I can’t recall a conversation where I didn’t leave feeling worthless, despite wins in my store. Unless it is related to equations and math, she does not teach. She condemns you for not knowing better. Any failings or shortcomings I shared only ended up coming back to hurt me in documentation or as an example of my ineptitude, further isolating me. My store turned around and began producing amazing numbers, but it did not matter. Unfortunately, she is either a product of her environment or her leadership is leaving her unchecked. Regardless, I would not recommend working for this company in any way. I used to think that only bad employees left negative reviews. Now I realize they were all honest warnings. Make sure you ask about their Store Leader turnover rate for one year.

Pros

Nice store, people you work with can be great

Cons

1. There is little work-life balance, I came into a store late last year and had to hire up most of the staff because there had been a massive turnover in management and floor staff. The expectations are through the roof with no support or understanding from higher management. There is a assessment that everyone has to take to even get a interview and the problem is that about 95% of applicants can't pass it. Even if they did it didn't always mean they were a good fit for the store. As a manager you are expected to do literally everything that falls under your job description and run the floor. You are supposed to get dedicated time for this each week which rarely happened. 2. Chronic short staffing. I worked at a high volume store that was in the top five in the whole company and we would have to run the store on the bare minimum. Like being goaled for a 20+K day and having one closer and one hour to get the store back in order. I worked my behind off to get a staff only to be stressed out about being understaffed 90% of the time. It would be on the fly from day to day trying to get people in to work. I was able to hire some really amazing girls to work with me which made the job fun and worth it. 3. 2nd chances and forgiveness don't exist here. I put a 110% into this place to be let go over a mistake that I apologized for and rectified. I am going through a lot personally ( suffer from panic attacks and depression) and made a decision on one of my shifts that was made out of desperation so the store wouldn't be so behind. I was put in this position from being majorarly short staffed on a weekend. I spoke to my store director the next day and everything seemed fine. Only to be let go three days later with out a discussion or write up from the DMs. I came in and my store director told me due to that one decision I was being let go and that it was best to part ways. No retraining, no performance plan, no further anything. Just like that poof done. I came from being a assistant manager and a store manager from other companies and have never felt so dispenable to a company. I literally don't know what they are thinking because they are really short serving themselves. Now that staff that I loved and hired are going to suffer because I am a human who made a mistake. It makes no sense whatsoever. I know how much it cost to hire and train let alone find good people to work so if they want to shoot themselves in the foot that's on them. 4. They want the job to be number one in everyone's life. I hired a lot of young girls who were high school and college aged and I understand having school work and other things to do. It is insanely hard to juggle school and work and being young but there is no understanding of that. 5. There is no apperiaction from higher ups unless you make your numbers. We are still in a pandemic and as much as my staff would try there would be days of us not hitting our goals. We would be asked over and over again how we could fix it and even with solutions it never felt like enough. I did everything I could do to at least make my staff feel appreciated but it is hard to keep up the enthusiasm when you don't have a team cheering you on.

Pros

Normal provided benefits, nothing above and beyond

Cons

I can’t even begin to express how terrible it is to work for this company. This company is extremely shady and awful and it is covered up by pushing that they are a charitable Christian company. Within the 5 nearby stores in this district there is not one store manager or assistant that has been there for over a year. Multiple stores have had at least 3/4 store managers within one year. There is no break from work, the upper management is constantly in contact with you and you have zero space. They expect and pile on so much work with very little support staff or hours to complete the work. This company looks good on paper but every employee is over worked and burnt out. They actually CUT PAY for covid and did not provide any PPE or sanitizer for employees. They do not hire LGBTQ and make up any excuse to not employ them. Extremely over worked with no breaks and long overnights. This goes all the way up the chain of management of extremely shady people. I cannot tell you enough DO NOT WORK HERE. if you try to contact home office or HR for any issues, there is no response or you are belittled. They are not a people first company. If you’re not a blonde girl southern belle then you don’t fit their image. Let’s not forget they do not care at all about mental health, the DM and store manager made multiple comments about anyone struggling with mental health and deminished the severity of multiple situations.
