Pros

The only pro of Altar’d state is the Employee Discount.

Cons

Altard state shows zero respect for their employees. They live by this stand up for good motto where they uplift and inspire others but do no such thing for their own employees. They also refer to this upside down pyramid where guests are the number one priority and everything else follows suit. They don’t live out this pyramid btw because when guest lead ask for help from hire management they don’t get the resources they need and have unrealistic expectations that their own store leaders can’t obtain. VPs inspire and uplift their employees by having management do their dirty work for them and send girls home if they feel like they “aren’t” in dress code even when that said employee did their part by asking management if what they had on was in dress code and okayed by managers/district leaders. Altar’d state is not a faith based from the experience I had working there, they don’t seek to understand, they don’t have compassion or grace for their employees, they don’t show empathy nor do they meet their employees where their at.

Pros

The concept of the company is a great idea. Management at the Senior Level is truly incompetent.

Cons

Please read the reviews before you even waste your time applying to this company, The reviews as you can see are all consistent and I can vouch they are definitely true. Upper management is too arrogant and stubborn to even recognize the problems and not willing to address any of the issues. They recently cut everyone in stores pay by around 3 dollars a hour without any justification or reasonable explanation other than inflation despite the fact the company’s Financial position continues to be healthy. Store Managers had a brief zoom call where they were told by an HR person the rest were told by the DLs and Store Managers. None of the above could answer the question of why are pay was decreased. Aaron Walters should have been man enough to get on call and tell everyone that it affected. No now he just gets on his Friday Zoom calls and tells everyone how they are not committed and not doing enough. Also another fun fact about cutting everyone salary he promoted several new VP positions staring with his wife! Nice to know his family didn’t get a pay decrease. By the way these new VPs must be ghost because we haven’t seen, heard or had any remote communication from them. In general, they are cutting everyone’s pay and they also cut hours in store so everyone is doing more work for less pay. Which is not sustainable and decreases employees moral. Everyone in my store is mentally and physically drained. Last but not least Aaron’s “Food for thought” emails are less than inspiring if you want to inspire your workforce maybe show a little empathy and gratitude in store with the people that make the company successful.

Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. We understand how the decision to make adjustments to pay may have affected you. We believe that was the best decision to avoid eliminating roles entirely. We are grateful for our associates contributions and we sincerely hope to continue working together as we navigate the challenges we have previously addressed with our teams.

DON'T WORK HERE

Pros

50% clothes and accessories 30% home decor

Cons

Where do I even start? Don't work here. This company is terrible, Especially the district leaders and higher-ups. If you plan to work here, don't expect a pay raise. For months the company was promising a pay raise, then when the time came up we all got pay cuts. They wanted to say it was because we weren't making our sales, but our store alone made 4 Million dollars that year. The district leaders and management do not care about you, they just want you to make them money. They all will talk about you behind your back and never to your face because no one there can handle confrontation. I worked there for a while because I liked the people there, but now everyone is leaving and the store is falling into a hole. So if you plan to work here, get prepared to be overworked, underappreciated, and not have work-life balance.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts as well as your concerns. We understand how our recent decision to implement pay adjustments may have affected you and all of our associates. This was not an easy decision, but a decision we strongly believe was most reasonable in lieu of eliminating positions entirely.
