Pros

(Most of the) associates that you work with are great people; discount on clothing. Cute clothing. Good values for customers.

Cons

Management is rude, condescending, and expects everyone else to do their job for them. Worked 2 to 3 days a week but had their ASM's input "comp" and "sick" days so it looked like they worked more. Constantly "sick" having "family emergencies", always making excuses and never running the store, and expecting ASM's to run the store for them. Multiple staff members, almost an entire team at this point, have left because of one person, but higher up management constantly ignores this, and let's management do whatever they want. Horrible work environment. Values are for the customers, not you. Expect you to work more than the required 40 hours even though you aren't paid overtime at all.

Thank you for your note and we apologize for your experience. We value work life balance and entrust in our Store Leadership teams to provide opportunities for both career development and outside of work activities. In this case, it appears that we could have done a much better job scheduling. I am available to speak with you if possible to better understand how we can improve and learn from your experience. Again, thanks for taking the time to write a review about time with AS.

Pros

I really enjoyed my people that were attracted to work there. Wonderful Christian valued girls. Big hearts. Hard workers. My only positive was them in my dark days. The store is exciting and warm visually. Norm and the visual team are wonderful and so creative. Our windows (watch out putting them together though) were hands down the most beautiful in our market.

Cons

Unfortunately, I truly recommend avoiding this company. If this is your only option for advancement, okay. But use as a stepping stone and move on as quickly as possible. Because during your time with this company, your life will change. I wish I could scream this from the rooftops. You'll find that you're angry, exhausted and not a pleasant person to be around at the end of the day. You will have no work/life balance. And I mean none. To reiterate, please don't come here, only if absolutely necessary, AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF JESUS, do not come here if you are responsible for someone (child/elderly parent) or sweet pet at home. They will be neglected severely beyond repair and you will lose what is most precious to you because of the time you have to invest in this role. You are expected only to perform and have no human existence. Your district manager will come in and ask why why why not? And not, how are you? Ever. I really wasn't valued. After spending 1.5 (which is like forever with this company) years and leading the most successful store in my district and one of the top 10 stores in the company, they didn't care. There was no "atta boy", no encouragement, no feedback but negative, no development to make me a stronger leader where I needed it. No follow through. Not great benefits, incentives (what incentives? Praise it to Jesus?), low pay for you and what you're able to offer your team. Please keep looking and continue your search with someone that will truly invest in you.

Worst time in my life!

Pros

My own employees. I have met some lovely people throughout the company during the time I was there but unfortunately majority of them quit due to circumstances below.

Cons

Pay for management would typically be considered competitive until you realize that you were lied to about the hours you have to work and what the job consists of. You're required to clock at least 45, being paid on salary at only 40. In actuality, clocking the week at a min of 50 hours was a dream when majority of my weeks consisted of 13+ hour days and 60+ hour weeks. The managers salary does not add up to the amount of work you have to put in and life you have to give up. They also expect this of their salary assistants manager who are severely under paid at almost $15,000 less than the Managers but required the same amount of hours and work load. They give you minimal payroll to ensure that only salary is ever on the clock so they can over work us and not have to pay for it. There were some weeks where we had giant markdowns and floor sets together over a 2-3 periods where all salary was literally having to work 24 hours straight, graveyard shifts multiple days in a row, but also having to work normal hours to run your store. Then you're berated by corporate for not being able to finish by their due date when they've set you up for failure. Corporate sends you last minute projects with due dates on a daily bases so that you can't plan anything and basically don't even have time to run your store and assist your customers. There is no training, structure, consistency, or brains behind this company. Corporate has absolutely no rhyme or reason behind anything. They're completely unrealistic in their expectations of employees which is why their turn over rate is the highest I've ever even heard of. Management positions dropped on a daily basis and yet they behaved as if they couldn't understand why. All of the young female "models" seen on their website and advisement are in positions in home office. They hire these too young and inexperienced girls for these positions in home office so that they don't have to pay for both employees and models. It's clear that with the minimal positions that home office does consist of, no one with a head on their shoulder is in place. All of the "executives" from corporate office are extremely disrespectful, dense minded, neglectful, and non solution oriented. They continuously promise "changes" yet they never get into motion. The Christian and Mission based cloak are just terms they use to manipulate employees into thinking that they're working 60+ hour weeks for a better cause. My time with these people and this company was honestly shocking. It was an absolute nightmare and the worst experience of my life. I soulfully regret bringing my knowledge, skill sets, time, and energy to them. You will not be supported or appreciated in any way and you will be required to give your life and soul up for this job. Leaving this company is the best decision I have ever made. I highly advise anyone looking into it or approached to walk away.
