Pros

a discount that barely makes a dent in the over priced clothing.

Cons

Altar'D State is not a Christian company. They simply have a Christian themed marketing plan. Nothing they do is generous or stands out for good. Managers will tell you that they donate unsold clothing from semi annual sales to charities. WRONG they sell it to TJMaxx and other discount retailers. The hours are horrible you either get 5 a week or a schedule that doesn't fit with your availability even though you emailed it to the manager. Call-in shifts are the worst every time you get there you'll stay for a 2 hour shift then leave or you don't get called in but you've spent the whole day waiting to get called in so your day is wasted. I understand retail is demanding (fashion major speaking) but my manager will scream at you across the room if there is a customer at the register. It will be just me and her working and I will be with ANOTHER customer helping them, engaging them, etc. but have to quit what I am doing and go ring the person up at the register. The customer I was just helping feels awkward because my manager is screaming at me and I end up not making that sale. Did I mention my manager is at the register??! She refuses to ring people up even when it's just the two of us working and she is right at the da** register. I could understand if I was meandering around the store, not doing my job, or not helping a customer but if I am busy maybe you should take care of that customer?...Her whole day is spent checking flash sales (talking loudly in front of customers about our sales goals and how we need to SELL SELL SELL which is inappropriate since the customer can here you and doesn't want to be pressured to buy merchandise), reading emails and making a schedule that does not fit anyone's previously discussed availability. I'm staying with Altar'D State because they pay $9.25 an hour but look somewhere else for a job!!!! If you don't mind making a bit less than try Francesca's, Boho Blu, Belk, Dilliards, etc. As soon as I find a job that pays the same or more, I'm gone. There is nothing positive about Altar'd State, the discount is a joke I just had to put a 5 word minimum. The atmosphere is terrible in the store because the manager (a grown woman) talks crap about all of the Brand Reps and how much she hates all of us. Fire us then???? Also she will embarrass you in front of the customers frequently along with profiling customers based on looks/race. You will be sent home in the middle of your shift because there is never any payroll. This is also why call-in shifts happen. I have so much more to say about Altar'd State but if I did that, this would be a 12 page paper. So I'll leave it at this.. Don't BUY from here. Don't WORK here.

Thank you for your recent submission. As an Altar'd State associate, hopefully you are aware of the Company's give back efforts, paid volunteerism hours for all associates, Mission Mondays to benefit local organizations, and the $5,115,649 to date in donations we've made to local and global communities. Flexible hours and schedules are provided to hard working associates who enjoy serving our guests and others. If you are not receiving hours or shifts, we encourage you to speak with your manager as to why. We want you to reach your professional and personal goals at the Company and if you are not happy serving our guests and supporting your team members, I am certain that new opportunities await you. Your comments regarding profiling and discrimination speak to character and we will not address here, however should you have any questions or concerns, please take advantage of the Company's Open Door Policy and speak with your Manager, District Manager, Regional VP, Head of Stores or Human Resources partner. Best of luck in your journey and we wish you nothing but success!

Pros

give back company and that's all!!!

Cons

They don't set up there managers for success but want them to do jobs they were never trained them for. Training is HORRIIBBLLEE....there basically is NONE!!! They do have the favoritism game going on so be careful. Very horrible with working with other schedules. NO life/work balance. Schedules are posted on a Friday so there is NO way of having a work/life balance. Definitely not for people with kids or who want to have another job.
