Pros

The company really does support, financially, local charities chosen by our own store with Mission Mondays. AS does prefer vendors that give back and has discontinued using vendors who don't. Very generous discount on wear-to-work apparel. AS does show great appreciation to their store managers.

Cons

Take advantage of employees. I was an "interim" assistant manager for a couple of months (40 hours+) and I was not paid as an assistant would have been. Poor training. Just recently, hours extended after close; this may hurt AS in retaining brand reps and hiring new ones.

We thank you for your candid feedback. Please feel free to contact me at matt.argano@altardstate.com to discuss your stretch assignment so that we can better understand the issue and support you. As it relates to hours of operation, its all about the guest. Extending hours of closing allows us to recover the store, prepare for the next day, and leave our stores beautiful and refreshed for the next morning. We hope that both our associates and guests appreciate the love and attention that goes into every store.

Pros

You're working for a purpose, helping children and our local communities in need. Growing and learning more than imaginable as the company wants to build on talent and invents money into its people and their education

Cons

Hard work and tough love, which truly isn't a con, and will pay off if you have desires to get ahead in life. Altar'd State isn't for everyone.

Pros

Built great relationships with my team because we basically lived at the store, shared the same work struggle, and that caused us to become like family. Same with other store managers. There are truly some beautiful stores

Cons

Where to start? Honestly the best thing to do is read all those previous negative reviews from other managers and pay attention! I left a well paying job to come to Altar'd State because I was so excited about the (deceiving) message the company sends and how they "stand out for good" now...they do charity and try to give back to local which I do like but as far as standing out for good to their employees?! No. horrible horrible horrible. There is a reason they have such a high turnover! All those great relationships I built... not ONE of them are still working for the company. Not one manager and not one employee. They have lost some great talent. Corporate is too arrogant to listen to what Managers ask for... we know what we need in our market and what will help us out at our locations! clueless to what is happening in their stores... I worked like a slave! My DM was awful but I think it's because she was clearly over worked as well and under stress.... I slept. Yes slept in the store on multiple occasions trying to finish overnight floor sets... my assistant too... it was just awful. I was mostly just so disappointed because I thought I was going to be a part of something really spectacular but it was the complete opposite. I would sincerely hurt for anyone that I was close to if they accepted a job at this company...
