Pros

Overall, the associates were pleasant to work with, usually kept a pretty positive attitude and generally worked hard. Fun environment most days, lots of good team work, etc.

Cons

Management lacks professionalism and responsibility. When problems came up, management would generally blame the keyholders to make themselves look better. HR was no help, either. Tried to go to them confidentially about problems in the store and all I ended up getting was a machine.

Pros

1. Incredible People --- I am shocked when I read other reviews that say things like "they don't care about you." It makes me truly wonder who they were interacting with. I"ve been with the company for less than 2 years and in that time I've received a handwritten card from the CEO, a hug from the Regional VP, and I've been cared for and known by ALL of my DMs and VDMs. I truly feel like Altar'D State is my family and I couldn't imagine better people to work for. They have truly inspired and empowered me, just as is laid out in the core values of the company. 2. Appreciation. If you are truly an outstanding and hard working manager you will be recognized and you will have opportunities to move up within the company. 3. Involvement. The company is young and still growing, which means that they are constantly launching new initiatives and giving you opportunities to be a part of all of the exciting growth that is happening. Within 8 months of being a brand new Assistant Manager with Altar'D State, I was sent to Tennessee for training and then sent to a New Store Opening. These were invaluable experiences that I am incredibly thankful for. I learned so much in such a short amount of time that I can hardly believe it. 4. Customer Experience. At Altar'D State, there's nothing that they want you to do more than to treat your customer with love and respect... this inevitably leads to genuine connections and experiences with guests. I have cried with my customers... They have touched my heart in ways that I never would have imagined just from helping them to find outfits. It's impossible to imagine unless you have experienced it for yourself. We are doing more than just selling clothes... We are standing out for good.

Cons

1. If you are lazy, this is not the place for you. If you want to hit your 40 hours and then head home without a second thought, you will not like working for Altar'D State. This would not be the right fit. This is the place for people that are driven and passionate. Every day you will experience challenges, and if that isn't exciting to you, then you may want to try something easier - like Claire's! I'm not saying that you have to work 70+ hours like some of the other reviews are saying, but personally, when I go home, I can't help but think about and talk about work. I'm so passionate and excited about what I'm doing that it pushes me out of a bed each morning with even greater fervor. 2. You will always feel like there is not enough time to get everything done. You just have to remain focused on what is most important (the guest) and problem solve on how you can complete all of the tasks. If this is uncomfortable for you, you may not enjoy the job. Personally, I enjoy the challenge and am trying to develop a more efficient strategy every day. 3. If you are not the type of person that is organized, clean, and detail oriented, you may struggle a lot. There is a lot of inventory to keep track of. You may need to iron out your organizational skills. :)
