Pros

Compensation is competitive. Kindle is an interesting gadget. One has the chance to get involved in all layers of the product, and learn.

Cons

I stayed at Lab126 for a little over 2 years. Bad mistake. I should have left after the first year. Only a few and their friends are running the show. Expectation is extremely high and never never ending. Stress is maintained/entertained by managers in order to push employees on working always faster. On purpose, they arrange for what you write to be seen by everyone. Absolutely no mistake is allowed. If you make any, one gets humiliated by mean public/broadcast emails. Complex deliverables are often seen by unqualified managers as easy tasks that shouldn't have taken more than a couple days -- even if they are grossly in the wrong. In another post, someone refers to "Darth Vader" style managers. I cannot agree more. But they won't go anywhere. They are nurtured by Amazon corporate.

Pros

Hard to find one other than the fact that you are working with smart people. As someone rightly said its a great company as long as you are not working for it.

Cons

Exceptionally demanding workplace and zero work life balance. Even on weekend I used to be stuck to my phone sending emails. Having a child while employed here meant going from a superstar rating that I had for 2 years to "you better start putting in more hours" and do better than the rest in the 3rd year. Management is clueless on how to handle pressure and makes sure you team is pushed to the extent to deliver. There might be a few team that are good but overall I would not recommend this place. In my 4 yrs I dont think I met anyone who was happy working here. There is no culture at lab126 just work and deliver is the motto.

Pros

View of the Moffett airstrip if you are in the Sunnyvale buildings. Cool projects and work.

Cons

Expect "Frugality" every where. Terrible 401k plan that is capped at 2k employer contribution. Amazon will take employer contribution back if you leave within 3yrs. There is no annual bonus. Poor compensation model. If the stock does well, regardless of your hard work, you will not be rewarded. The total compensation model will ensure they can be frugal and not reward you for your performance as long as the stock does well. Do not expect RSU grants/ bonus. Annual base increase is capped at 3%. Crappy expensive cafeteria food. Crappy maternity/paternity leave. Terrible stock vest schedule of 5,15,40,40 across 4yrs. This causes a lot of smart people to leave in 2yrs or 4yrs once the sign on bonus runs out. The only SWAG you get is on the day you join. Most likely a sticker that says "Amazon".
