Pros

Employee appreciation is a priority here at AFCU and the family environment is so welcoming! I applied at AFCU because I had an account and loved every interaction with the Credit Union. I started as a teller and climbed the career path towards a Lead Teller in a matter of 2 1/2 years. There is so much room to grow in the company and there resources to help you get where you want to be!

Cons

I worked in a grocery store branch and the hours were rough. I did love the idea of only working 4 days a week to get all of my hours in, but I still missed activities and family parties due to my schedule. I know that the schedules were changing for tellers in the grocery store branches and they were not guaranteed 10 hr. shifts, so they would work up to 4-5.

Pros

It is great to learn the aspects of finances that there are a lot of misconceptions about, such as how credit works and the benefits of good credit.

Cons

The only downside comes from the nature of working with people. There will always be disagreements and disappointments that are dealt with, unfortunately that means that sometimes members are misunderstanding or misdirect their harsh feelings toward employees.

Pros

For an entry-level job, this is probably the best job around. Benefits for 30-hour employees, higher pay than working fast-food, and flexible schedules that can work around a school schedule. It is easy to move up in the company and get higher paying jobs. Highly recommended.

Cons

The downside is that the compensation, while above most other entry-level positions, is not the best. There is a semi-high turnover rate because of this. I feel as though they make up for this by offering benefits, but unless you move up in the company it will stay fairly low.
