Pros

Not many, but pension I guess would be a positive. Although the pension fund has been decreasing its contributions from so many retirees and severance packages handed out.

Cons

You have to have 3 years vested interest, there is no transparency, managers and project managers just use people, managers lie about performance, ethical issues with project managers and potentially on a larger scale, no loyalty to people that were loyal to this company by working for years for AEP or having family that made a career working for AEP, failed divestiture of a multi-billion transaction of Kentucky Power, inefficient use of capital and poor planning, takeover of the board by Icahn Enterprises in 2024 by poor treasury planning, 3 different CEO's in 2024, constant realignment with no clear direction other than causing chaos, middle managers outside of headquarters pushing their own agenda or agenda of their location, managers do not respect individual people to meet them where they are and hyper critical with judgement, poor controls that are blamed on front line instead of implementing controls to prevent outcomes and lead to the outcomes interested in achieving, bad KPI's, no appreciation for people who step up when others aren't, irrational biases twisted to make themselves feel better about themselves, I was told this was not Amazon when making improvement suggestions so if you are looking for the best place to help make things more efficient this is not the place, no one listens to cost analysts although they were hired and promoted for a reason, it is all a smoke and mirrors dog and pony show for the project managers and managers to take all the credit, managers talk out of two sides of their mouths, poor customer support to customer projects, rob truly high performing peter on bonuses to pay brown nosed popular Paul's bonus for the wrong reasons, forecasting is cumbersome to cost analysts although they say it is on project managers that is not the truth and the project managers just want to take the credit most of the time without putting in the work because of all the traveling they say they have to do to the job sites, constant revolving door of severance packages of free money handed out which is inefficient, contractors take advantage of AEP's inefficiencies, lots of lip service, and zero accountability amongst leaders.
