Pros

Dedicated workforce, leadership is very good. In the 9 years I have worked for American Express I have only encountered 1 leader where I wondered how he got his job (he was incompetent). Work/Life balance usually good, but this depends on your leader and organization. Great group of people.

Cons

Pay is not up to market level standards. I know if I went out of the company I most likely would do better. Career opportunities are limited if you are in the field.

Good way to enter customer service field but not a lot of support to move away from the telephone role

Cons

They do any and everything to prevent you from earning a large bonus. you bonus is weighed on results from customer surveys.

Great company to work for and lots of opportunities to move up in the company. Competitive salaries - increase in salary was dependent on good evaluations. Managers and supervisors were fair.

Cons

I worked in customer service so the routine of it all does get to you. And sometimes you had to deal with irate, abusive customers and take it all with a smile.
