Inspiring mission with amazing people, leadership and volunteers

Pros

Amazing mission and amazing people. I have worked for the AHA since 1997 in development. I left for 3 years and came back. It is an inspiring and exciting environment; we have amazing volunteers and are run very professionally.

Pros

- Flexibility with remote work arrangements. - Respected brand and mission.

Cons

- Leadership is not empowered below the highest levels. VPs and directors therefore spend much of their time micromanaging lower-level staff, rather than performing more important work. - Organization is mostly run by "lifers" who are resistant to change and who were promoted more for their tenure than their skill. - High turnover of lower-level staff. - Pay raises are few and far between.
