Pros

Decent Commission pay if you can to put up with 4-5 yrs of almost no pay. Only about 1 in 50 of new hires will actually succeed. If your that one good luck

Cons

Target desperate college grads to work strictly on commission. Feed them old, weak leads. Expect you to see expensive policies in a recession. Encourage deceptive sales tactics

Pros

The pay is excellent. I started at well above minimum wage. The benefits are great. They offer good bonuses and incentives, unless you are part of the conservation team.

Cons

They make promises to get you to change projects and then do not follow through. The health insurance is extremely expensive, over $700 per month for a family of 5. Anything and everything that you do will be labeled "work avoidance." When you are subject to disciplinary action, you are prevented from changing schedules or changing departments. However, if you ask how long this period will be, they will tell you that they do not know and that they are not required to give a time frame. Training is very brash, incomplete and inconsistent. You are then expected to meet criteria on error percentages in the first 90 days of your employment, otherwise you are fired. Management is completely incompetent. They rarely promote management from within the policy service department. When they do promote managers, they promote an past employee that has been rehired for 6 months and hire retail store managers rather than promoting from within. The policy service department has a high turnover rate of managers because good managers are pushed out and mindless managers are brought in so that Torchmark can control (and mess up) everything. They do not research the legality of their practices before they implement them.

Pros

- Flexibility - One can get promoted to management fast. Performance based not merit based. - Good management team that are willing to work with you. - Awesome training programing including the laptop presentation which make the sale easier. - Great leads system and good market penetration (Union Employee). One of the best lead system I have every seen. I've been able to average nearly 20 referral per day using the company system. I wouldn't believed it if I wasn't working there. - Good income opportunity if you work hard. I made seven sales my first full week in the field.

Cons

- The hours are the most difficult. You could easily work until 11pm or later most nights and all day on Saturday and sometime Sunday are encouraged. - Turn-over appears to be very high. I'm sure most of it is due to the long hours. - Lot of traveling that could take a told on your vehicle. I spend a lot on gas every week.
