The Fresh Start I Needed

Pros

AIFS gave me the fresh start in a great career path that I needed. I was struggling to find a good company to work for until I came to AIFS. They have provided me the opportunity to give my life a platform to build from. Happy to work here and I plan on staying for a long time. The entire staff is supportive and friendly. Very thankful to work at AIFS. Great ethos and company goal.

Cons

35 hour paid work week. Would rather have less "company functions, meals/lunches, excursions, expenses" and more income. Some positions will have a lot of stress, but what job doesn't. Not downtown.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review! We are happy to be providing a fresh start and we truly believe that having a hard working but happy team is the key to our success. Sometime we do hear that some employees would prefer few work functions. Doing the math, eliminating the cost of social functions and sharing that cost divided by the number of employees at the office would account for less than .25/hour per employee (with no variations for seniority/titles/work history/etc). Generally speaking we prefer to create opportunities for our employees to take a break, meet other employees and bond than remove all the events and give a small one time raise which would easily be forgotten over time. Hopefully in the future you will either find some events that you enjoy or at least understand that our benefits package is geared towards trying to provide "something" for everyone and with nearly 400 permanent employees on payroll that means you will like some but not all. If you have ideas for a fun event you might enjoy please contact HR or the Social Committee. We would LOVE to hear from you. Lastly.....I'm a little surprised that a 40 hour week would be preferable to a 35 hour work week. Working 35 hours gives you 5 more hours per week to "live life" outside the office. It is one more "perk" that we enjoy as part of our culture and we hope that it helps employees find a bit more balance in their lives.

Pros

If you love what you do, you can be happy anywhere but AIFS offers great benefits from health, dental and vision insurance to social gatherings every now and then. They don't only treat you as an employee, they care about you like this is your second home. They do a lot to make us all smile!

Cons

Few employees who don't appreciate what they have and always complain but you can find them in every company so no worries!

Thank you for taking the time to share your review! We appreciate that employees enjoy the benefits and the social gatherings. We often work so hard that it's nice to "like" the place where you spend most of your day. In a time where ACA is changing the way businesses handle health insurance, AIFS is still committed to providing great insurance at affordable rates to their employees. It's a part of our culture....taking care of the people who make us such a success. If you have ideas for new benefits or social activities please contact HR. We are always happy to hear from you!

Pros

AIFS takes care of their employees really well. Food trucks, free lunches, generous benefits package, opportunities for learning, and travel. Management is thoughtful about days off in case of bad weather and supports flexible work schedules.

Cons

Still under a year of working here and would like to have a better understanding of what everyone does in each division. (I feel like that is on me though, not the organization)

Thank you for taking the time to post your review! We try to put safety first with our staff and during questionable snow we prefer to work from home than risk any issues on the road. We are grateful to our staff for their willingness to work from home and keep the business moving.....it allows us more flexibility with our closures. Lots of people still feel like they don't know what everyone does (It's not just you). Our staff is really dedicated and focused. Sometimes it's difficult to explore outside your own department. Take advantage of social activities to meet new people in the group and don't forget to check out the website to see how each department does their part to help us "bring the world together".
