Great company to work, but poor management

Pros

Great medical benefits, fun office environment, the CEO is awesome and open minded.

Cons

Most managers have been in the company for a long time, they are old fashioned and are not as open minded to new ideas as they should be. Talented employees are not given the opportunity to grow within the company as they claimed employees could do to be in a better position and/or salary.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review! Just as every employee is different, so is every manager. However, the culture of the company is that we are open to ideas. Just because every idea isn't used or doesn't align with current business goals does not mean that we don't encourage suggestions. Additionally, there are ways to grow within the company that do not translate into title promotions. Several employees have volunteered for committees, been asked to participate in the mentoring committee with the CEO, been selected for additional training through AMA or learned additional responsibilities within their role. AIFS is pretty open about it's structure and low turnover rates. There are people who stay for decades and therefore promotions are not what they may be in bigger companies. However, we do focus on a full package of fair pay, great benefits and events, and a great workplace environment.

Thanks for taking the time to share your review! Resident Directors generally are temporary positions within our SIG program under NSGT. If you worked in the office under SIG, it is a very small team of only about 12 people and is an independent not for profit program. Most often people stay because they truly believe in the mission and want to create amazing experiences for young gifted students. Due to the size of the program there is normally limited upward mobility. Perhaps in the future working for another division of AIFS will be a better experience? Best of Luck!
