Pros

paycheck every week, 5 day work week, weekends off, great people in the shop, work at your own pace, heated shop for the winter

Cons

Amerit Fleet Solutions is a perfect example of a company that has no business in the automotive repair world, and for a company that "believes" in team work they sure do know how to make the most valuable team players feel unappreciated. The company has no real idea of what goes into diagnosing and repairing a vehicle. They have no true understanding of the diagnosis process and believe a "fault code" means faulty part every time. I mean why would you fix the vehicle right the first time when you can have it come back two or three times for the same issue? Maybe they enjoy the extra work, job security I guess. Communication is another big issue at the location I worked at. No one knows whats going on, who is doing what, or where and when parts are coming in. You can explain one thing to one individual and then forced to do it again to another because the other person failed to relay any of it. Another area I find interesting is the high turn over rate in the front office, I mean the office staff is like a border check point, they come in throw some papers around and leave. This company rewards the incompetent employees and fails to reward or at least acknowledge the ones that keep everything going behind the scenes. I cant say this company has no standards, because that would be lying. It has very low standards, they preach quality and attention to detail but they fail to open their eyes to the real problem areas. Best way to describe it would be to put a band aid on a bullet hole wound. Benefits are really not that great, the pay is moderate, the reimbursement for tests and training is a long annoying process that takes up to much time and makes it not even worth it. If you are in a jam and in need of a job this place will do, just don't expect to retire from this company, or really don't plan on anything more then the day your working cause your not promised tomorrow.

I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience. We do encourage employees at all levels to voice their concerns and ideas. While AFS believes that feedback via Glassdoor is essential to improving as a company, we would like to respond to some of the comments as listed in this review. First, AFS seeks qualified, talented employees at all levels and pays competitive wages. Our benefits, including healthcare, dental and paid time off are also competitive in the market. AFS, like many companies in this industry does have some turnover – we are working very hard to reduce this by increasing our employee engagement, reviewing our benefits and becoming more and more transparent with our employees around the country. While we are seeing progress in this area, we know we have more work to do. We do reject the assertion in this review that AFS has low standards. We could not remain in business and continue to grow well above the industry rate by having low standards. We have outstanding practices that are revolutionary in the industry and deliver a truly unique solution to our clients. Although innovation is sometimes very challenging, we believe in the talents of our individual employees and are proud of the 100% they give every day. Together, we will continue to improve and deliver excellence to our customers.

Pros

Paycheck cashes every week. 5-day work week, weekends off. If you can fog a mirror, you can get a job here. Or is that a con?

Cons

Amerit Fleet Solutions hasn't got a blessed clue about what is involved in either fixing vehicles or running a professional shop. The facility I work at is grossly inadequate in every respect from physical size to equipment to a sad lack of necessary tooling. A year ago, they threw open the doors saying put up some lifts, hire some people and start fixing on cars. Ten bays, one working scan tool (an obsolete MODIS), hardly any special tools, and two thousand vehicles to try and keep up with. No professional development training is available; one of many things I was lied to about when I interviewed. In this field, if you don't constantly stay abreast of changing technology you get out of touch very rapidly. No Idea how to dispatch work according to skill levels. They will have "A" techs doing tires and PMs while "C" and "D" techs struggle with driveability and electrical issues, throwing a thousand dollars of parts at a car and not only NOT fixing it, but actually creating new problems that necessitate it being towed back the same day it left. High turnover. The front office is a rotating door and we have been through four managers in a year. Several technicians have quit, more are about to, and they won't fire the incompetent people. No standards. No sense of priorities. Management constantly changes their minds according to who got upset about what today. Benefits are substandard. And have I mentioned that opinions are NOT welcome? I wondered why I was called for an interview less than an hour after I sent my resume. Now I know.

When we first received this review we were pretty upset. There are some serious accusations in this that surprised us all. We initially put out a canned response, but clearly we wanted to ensure we do not have operations around the country that reflect the poor conditions detailed on this review. Clearly, this was a challenged situation, and in the initial days of the launch we may have been under tooled. This is not typical. We have developed a very comprehensive implementation protocol for new accounts and our start up process is considered the best in the industry. This review also calls into question the quality of work from our employees. While we may have performance issues from time to time, like any business, we are proud of the efforts of all our employees. AFS employees work hard and can expect Management and Leadership to have their backs. We do not accept the characterization that our employees are poor quality. We support the hiring of qualified technicians and offer a full array of career opportunities from entry level to management positions all over the country
