Long hours, unreasonable expectations. very stressful environment, not much time to spend with family. difficult to get time off

Pros

Relatively close to home. Manager is an good guy willing to listen.

Work life balance really sucks. No training, No equipment, No Shop manuals. As a result I have personally observed work orders with hundreds of hours of labor applied. Essentially, this company is geared for only maintenance work such as oil changes, tire rotations and filter changes. When a real problem with equipment arises-they have no clue. I have personally seen a vehicle come in running fine, then taken out of service because the mechanic performed a tune up and drilled an aluminum cylinder head to remove the spark plug. That vehicle went from New York to New Jersey and back to New York again for diagnosis only (which took eight months). The company's only concern is making the numbers look good. The reality is the comeback rate and vehicle down time is extremely high due to misdiagnosis and substandard repairs which; no amount of fudging can conceal. This in part is due to hiring anyone with a wrench and a pulse. Diesel opacity testing is allowed to be performed in the shop which is detrimental to your health. It seems there is little or no concern over the health effects of diesel fumes and the exposure to cyanide gas in the shop from running diesel engines without exhaust hoses attached to vent the exhaust. I can go on and on and on but they seem complacent with the status quo. It's no wonder Amerit Fleet Solutions eventually lost the contract.

Pros

One hour lunch, good fellow workers

Cons

Managers lack experience and they believe in trial and error, management has taken a perfectly good company and is driving it into the ground, the morale is at its all time low and and workers are being treated like slaves (of coarse only the ones that don't brown nose) Bad benefits like work a year and have to borrow the time that you earn.
