Pros

Good starting wage in some areas of the country. Some managers care about their people. Fairly easy work, with education benefits.

Cons

Metrics are starting to rear their ugly head. If you don't get in good with a select group of managers in an office you are in for a long tenure without the possibility of advancement. If you are not one of the "chosen" you are in for a bumpy ride as every act is monitored, and what may be ignored for one person will lead to "counseling" for another. Best advice: Keep your head down, get some experience then move on. Also, even though we are licensed agents, we are treated more like Call center employees with metrics on idle time, sales, life transfers etc..

Pros

Majority 8:45-5pm schedule Mon- Fri only required to work a few Saturday's a year. The office is in a nice area You have the potential to bonus every month with sales

Cons

Base pay isn't enough for the amount of work Management is very low grade, no real leadership in this office. Most of the managers were recruited straight from college and this is the only job/company they've ever known which makes it harder to introduce new concepts to them. Lots of non-managerial tenure in the place who pretty much are running the show and are not willing to implement change. No diversity, it's one of those TX "Good ole boy" companies Minimal advancement opportunities

Pros

It is a good place to get experience and take that experience some place else if you want to excel.

Cons

There is very little opportunity for promotion at the local level. You must be willing to move to a different state in order to get a promotion. The RI office is the headquarters and that is where the most opportunity lies.
