Marketing Leadership absolutely awful

Pros

Fully remote is really nice but can be hard to feel a connection to colleagues and team. Unlimited vacation is really nice perk but there is a fair amount of red tape around when you can take it - overall a really nice benefit though.

Cons

There is one particular leader on the marketing team who is the worst boss I’ve ever had. Doesn’t onboard and train at all, throws things at you and gets mean when you ask questions about it or need help. Constantly says “I want you to ask question or suggest new ways of doing things - I love that!” then when you do that just gets so peeved with you and completely belittles you. Did it to so many other people in meetings was just so rude to people and is creating a culture of this within the whole marketing team because one of her “favorite” employees absolutely chewed someone else out in a meeting because she didn’t like an idea that they shared. The final straw was when a really sad situation happened with an employee in the company and people were very shaken up and she barely acknowledged it, was so flippant about it and was adamant that a particular meeting needed to happen despite people who were affected by the incident. There is very much a culture on the marketing team that everything is a huge deal and needs to happen so fast when it’s just not the reality.

Racism and corrupt upward movement

Pros

-honestly wfh is the only pro i can really think of...

Cons

-very racist, especially upper management like directors, managers, vp's ESPECIALLY on the platform team -managers pick favorites, there is a lot of corrupted practices in promotions. if you look at a lot of leadership ppl, their career path jumps around so much (i.e. promoted every 5-8 months) and in a position that their experience does not match up with -a lot of microaggressions, racism, sexism, etc. Even when reported to HR "anonymously", you are exposed to all of leadership and then PICKED ON -inconsistency in practices in all aspects: product, careers, people, etc.

Pros

I cannot come up with any pros to working at Amplify.

Cons

Top heavy inexperienced management that doesn't know how to delegate responsibility. Executives are not held accountable for failures across the organization...nope...they're promoted, and little guys are let go (recent reduction in force was not rolled out thoughtfully) Systems are TERRIBLE. For a company in the business of TECH, they should be ashamed. Bad behavior everywhere you look...unprofessional, catty, nobody seems to care and the buck is just passed... Every year, there's a new problem relating to fulfilling sales. Every. single. year. It is amazing that schools continue to purchase. Smart schools have moved on to more established publishers.
