Pros

Nothing. My biggest mistake was to join this organization. Example for worst worst middle management. Example - in Apollo core platform team where I worked. Director left because he hated the company and since they were not able to find replacement, company promotes the engineering manager as IT director of group and that follows a promotion of inexperienced engineer to become manager. Selection criteria was that they were with the company for more then 2 years and were friends of upper management person. How easy! was that to screw life of all good engineers like me who were working under these non-eligible candidates. Later the entire team leaves.

Cons

Everything, stay away from Apollo. People staying(left-over) are mostly managers who cant find same position else where(off-course they cant) or engineers who are struggling with interviews conducted by other companies.

Pros

Generous vacation and sick time, %98 of education through University of Phoenix is paid by the employer, medical benefits and paid tution available as of first day or work. Various positions posible within the company. I have doubled my salary in 6 years within Apollo. There is allot of room for internal advancement. Management for the most part is hands off and light hearted. Management is not very effective here because once hired as a manager, it takes an act of god to let that person go even if performing poorly. Telecommuting is common for many employees. If you can secure a steady place in the company, you should be fairly comfortable.

Cons

Good luck surving the constant reorgs and layoffs. This is the norm with any large company but Apollo has been doing substantial reorgs for the last 4 years with no end in sight. The company has been known for laying off mass amounts of people at once. The enrollment and IT departments of the company are very susceptible to this. To come in one day and have your entry badge no longer work is not all that unusual. Salary is about industry average if not a little below here with very small yearly raises, usually in the range of 1 - 3 %. No bonuses available. There isn't any incentive program to perform above and beyond at Apollo other than self pride.

Pros

Access to a wide variety of training/education opportunities.

Cons

Very dysfunctional organization. Vertical business groups interact poorly making it very difficult to effect positive change. Leadership changes are frequent and priorities change faster than the organization can adjust.
