The stock price was over $50 when I started, now it teeters under $10. There is a giant gap in communications from upper management to the front lines and that has been one of the sources for their demise. That and exploitation of the education system. But that's now biting them in the keester as well.
Every new initiative is rolled out backwards, you are in the minority if you do not have a VP title, and there are about 3 layoffs per year which means that the morale of every single employee is rock bottom. The media paints Apollo (UoPX) to be evil, but that is not entirely true. It's the BOD and all of the top Execs that are evil. Evil to the point of overshadowing any good that this company has to offer. Like a 4:1 Evil/Good ratio.
If they hire you as a VP, they want your book of business and whatever scrapings of knowledge you can provide to help spin declining numbers for the next quarterly investors call. If you are hired into enrollment, regional recruiting, or national accounts, they are just filling a void until they decline to a point of not needing you any longer. If you do take a job, do so with a lawyer because they are sinking so quickly they will most likely fire you illegally knowing by the time you sue... they will have gone under.
