Pros

Transparency. By continually improving Appian, career management and HR listened to employees and worked together to make information about career tracks and promotions readily available. Accessible. It's not every day that you can walk into a VP's office and ask their project advice.

Cons

Limited office locations. Headquartered in Reston, VA results in employees outside this area working remotely. While Appian is flexible when it comes to remote work, it would be nice to have additional offices in the United States.

Pros

The Sales organization here is an open floor for discussion. Everyone's opinion is valued and the entire organization can be leveraged throughout the entire sales cycle, all the way up to the executives of the company. This makes selling here very unique, and rewarding. As a member of the BDR team I feel like I am learning great skills to continue my education about selling in the software industry. Once you are hired at Appian they want to make sure you are happy, to the point where even if you want to try a new role, they can facilitate that transition within the organization. Head quarters is also in the Reston town center which has a plethora of its own perks.

Cons

So far I have no cons about working here.

Pros

Great culture and focus on teamwork and collaboration Interesting projects and client work, with opportunities for rapid growth and responsibility Fun company events and trips

Cons

Easy to get pigeon-holed and not as flexible of a work environment as advertised Not as meritocratic as senior management pretends to be Transparency could be better between the C-suite and the rest of the company Some projects and clients can be very difficult and controlling, but the company is reliant on the revenue stream
