Pros

Great culture, people and product. The company is poised to do phenomenally well. The entire company is geared towards customer satisfaction, employee happiness, and market leadership all in tandem.

Cons

As with any company in hyper-growth mode, there are always challenges for resources to assist in sales cycle. However, at the end of the day, management does figure out a way to have all reps needs for resources met.

Much Happier Here!

Pros

Came from a large consulting firm and Appian provided a much needed change for the better! Mostly a young company, but everyone is very smart and eager. They pay well, especially to those just starting out in their careers. Great culture. Provides fun activities to employees, such as a summer getaway, ticket giveaways, movie nights, etc. Love that consulting teams are very fluid and truly agile. More self-organizing and less micromanaged.

Cons

Huge gap between entry-level and senior workers. There is high turnover among younger hires. This is due to the fact that wages and growth tend to flatten pretty quickly, and there is not a big drive to keep those in the "middle" around. PTO and benefits are not great, as there are 7 holidays and only 15 PTO days a year.

Appian Response

Thank for your kind words and advice. We get a lot of questions about going public, it obviously generates a lot of excitement -- and a few concerns. It's worth remembering that Appian is not a typical tech company. Because of our success in self-funding for so long, we are in charge of our own destiny. We have always run Appian with a sustainable fiscal discipline that affords us the right to put our clients and employees first and no IPO will ever change that. Instead, if we do go public, it will be to grow our culture, never diminish it. We are very interested in keeping our already low turnover rate low for all employees -- entry-level and senior. Just like we founders are deeply involved in hiring, we review all departures for patterns and trends. People here can already earn more vacation just by tenure -- and most stay at Appian for five years or more. We are always adding new benefits and open to new ideas like the new Commuter Benefits we just added last month that will especially help newer hires. -Michael, Co-founder & CTO, Appian

Pros

Company culture, work-life balance, amazing product, flat organization. Surrounded by brilliant people.

Cons

Growth means constant change, which isn't always bad, but something to be aware of when joining the company.
