Pros

- Commitment to Collaboration: AIS promotes a culture of teamwork and problem-solving, encouraging employees to work together to overcome challenges. - Technical Expertise: The company boasts a strong emphasis on technical knowledge, with many employees being highly skilled in their respective IT fields. - Long-term Employee Presence: AIS is home to many long-standing employees, or "lifers," who bring years of experience and dedication to the company.

Cons

- Lack of Clear Leadership and Direction: The company suffers from a significant absence of executive leadership and clear direction, leading to confusion and inefficiency across business units. - Politically Charged Environment: AIS's workplace is highly political, favoring those within certain internal circles for promotions and opportunities, thereby limiting career growth for others. - Inconsistent Company Strategy: The direction and strategy of the company are prone to frequent changes, leading to regular reorganizations and a lack of stability. - Culture of Fear and Uncertainty: Employees face constant pressure to maintain billability, with the threat of layoffs looming over those who do not meet targets, fostering a culture of fear rather than engagement. - Inadequate Sales and Marketing Strategy: There is a noticeable deficiency in sales and marketing acumen, leading to ad-hoc project planning, unsatisfied customers, and lost business opportunities. - Mismanagement of Talent and Resources: Decisions regarding employee project allocation often seem uninformed, resulting in misaligned resources and underutilized talent.

We’re disappointed to hear this is your current experience at the company. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Our CEO, Larry Katzman, would like to sit down with you and learn more about the drawbacks you shared. If you would like to meet with him, please email him directly at larry.katzman@ais.com. In regards to the fear of layoffs: in the last year, we faced some unprecedented challenges that the company had to respond to, and that included unfortunate separations with many talented employees. We spoke transparently about these challenges on our recurring All-Hands throughout the year. We realize that transparency can create stress when there is no definitive answer or outcome, but that is often the case in business. We chose to share information as we learned, planned, and adapted so that our employees would not feel like they were in the dark about the challenges we faced. We worked closely with those impacted, providing advanced notice and opportunity to look for other work. We also had an internal team working relentlessly to reassign people to new projects to keep as many employees billable as possible. As an IT consulting company, we take our responsibility to keep employees billable seriously and continually invest in ways to grow and advance our internal mobility program.
