Pros

I would say that the most positive thing is the people who work there. There are many talented, hard working people who are willing to help you out.

Cons

I have never experienced the morale of a company as low as it is at Apptricity. Even on my first day of employment, I was approached by several employees and informed of the general level of unhappiness. Were they ever correct. Once you are hired on as a sales rep, you are expected to deliver immediately. There is no training offered other than a few pages of marketing collateral printed off of the website. Marketing is supposed to provide some lead generation, however, there is no budget allocated to make this effective, thus, you are relegated to cold calling companies w/ a product that no one knows of and which you've had virtually no training. Although the average sales cycle for its products is 9 months or so, you are on a much shorter leash than that. There is absolutely no reason to ever miss work. If you have a child/children, do not expect any situations (sickness, etc) to be a valid excuse to miss work. You can also expect to be spoken down to in a condescending fashion often times for reasons that are exagerrated or simply untrue. The management of your employment is from a position of control, not of an attempt to provide professional growth. This company has churned through more sales reps in its 11 years than it has customers. This is all fact- utilize this review as you will.

Pros

You will have opportunties to work with some great companies and sections of the government and provide solutions to their every day business challenges, which can be very rewarding. There are many people there who are talented, helpful, and will go out of their way to help their fellow teammates. Depending on the department you work in, you can really develop new skills and develop the confidence and creative freedom to make your team successful and win. QA is one of the better departments to work in. The company tries to do little things like company happy hours that make it possible for people who don't work together regularly to get to know each other better - which is a nice touch. With the technology and talent Apptricity has, the potential exists for the company to be incredibly successful.

Cons

As a recent reviewer stated, management is completely inconsistent and there isn't any stability within the organiization as to what direction the company is going in. Strategies are always changing on a whim. I've seen some people there have incredible talent but not be recognized by management and be completely underutilized. You can expect to have your office moved frequently and when you try to get feedback from the CEO or middle managers to make sure you are doing your job right, you will not get it. But if the CEO doesn't like what you are doing, he has no issue screaming at you and humiliating you in front of your colleagues. Like the other reviewer said, he has a very authoritarian and demovitational style, which shows how poor his leadership skills are. It doesn't take much for the CEO to lose faith in you, and when he does you can never earn it back. Sales is the worst department to work in. Turnover is very high and reps are frequently subject to being yelled at without cause or for circumstances beyond their control. Some reps work hard and are helpful, while others are not held accountable or responsible for completing the full scope of their job. Instead of being held to the same standards as others, other team members are expected to jump in and pick up the slack and if they don't, they are blamed for the other rep's failures - all the while trying to get their own job done so the CEO doesn't yell at them. Those double standards lower morale and contrinute to the failure of the department.
