* Very smart and talented people (mostly former DE Shaw crowd) * Great atmosphere--small enough to be considered a start-up (without the financial worries), but corporate enough to have the right structure * Cutting-edge technology used on most system components and constant drive to innovate * The NY-based technical team focuses on strategic projects * Great work-life experience with reasonable hours, social events * Good in-office perks: massive recreational space, free drinks and snacks, social Fridays, movie nights, weekly afternoon snacks and plenty of other activities * Continued growth, both in terms of clients and new hires--there is no one else like Arcesium in the hedge fund technology services space.
Cons
* Flat corporate structure, so unclear what the growth opportunities will be in the future * The core engineering teams are in India, so communication is sometimes a challenge due to time zones and there is a lot of time spent on video conferences, IMs, etc.
