Pros

Run for the hills! I am currently an employee with Arch. Employees are sweet and hard working. The company does have fun get together once to twice a year. The parking is great and the building is in a great location.

Cons

When you go home crying it can't be good. The holiday schedule only applies to other employees not to underwriting or underwriting support. Extreme micromanaging, the management makes you feel as if you are not important. There is a demand for overtime which can be hard if you have a family (also requested OT on Sunday). I don't think some staff would mind if they felt valued.

Pros

It's a stable company with good benefits, and most of the people are really nice and great to work with. Very friendly people who'll always say hi even if you're not in the same department. They survived the recession well and have an overall good business model. With a good manager, you can learn a lot. I had a lot of on the job training and learned a lot of valuable skills.

Cons

There's a large company culture to push people to work late and weekends all the time. People brag about how many hours they've worked and been away from their families. If you're lucky enough to have a good manager who doesn't care about that, your manager will still take the heat for it. The company doesn't appreciate the IT employees, except maybe a handful. After 4 1/2 years of working there, my salary raised 4K from when I started. And that was with a promotion/title change. I was told that raises would be bad because the whole company's still struggling from the recession, and then weeks later was told by the CEO at a company party that we're doing great, one of the best in the industry. But IT doesn't bring in the clients and make the big bucks like underwriters, so we don't matter as much.
