The students, staff and families are amazing. At the site-level there is a lot of teamwork, support and cohesion.
Cons
ASU Prep had so much potential, but with the appointment of Dr. Anna Battle as Chief Leadership Officer, things started declining quickly. Decisions are being made that are not in the best interests of the students or staff, and they definitely do not take those opinions under consideration when making big decisions. For a non-profit, it is surprisingly financially motivated; they've implemented cost-cutting measures such as eliminating positions and combining job duties. This serves to overwhelm employees who feel like they can never get caught up. They are more concerned with launching their Digital platform and getting media coverage for that than what is going on at their site schools. Dr. Battle sends out "Battle Words of the Week" which are completely tone-deaf and most of the time have to do with pushing through adversity, which I feel is her way of saying she knows everyone is overwhelmed, but to "suck it up buttercup."
