You can excel here if you're able to be patient. The state/federal relationship within the agency has made the long time employees a bit parochial and near sighted. The agency needs some help from new employees who have worked at other agencies; there are a lot of business processes at the Army National Guard that are being done incorrectly and there's a lot of unnecessary bureaucracy too. That sounds like a negative, but the positive aspect is that you have a huge potential to do good things working for this agency if you have the expertise. You can make a difference here.

Cons

Everything you try to do is harder. All of the support systems to do anything related to your job from going on travel to hooking up your computer are just so unhelpful as to be nearly useless.
