Terrible Management + Leadership

Pros

- The product doesn't break too badly compared to other start-ups. - Summer Fridays

Cons

I enjoy working at start-ups, but this is the most terribly managed company I've worked at. I expected a collaborative culture from a start-up, but it's non-existent here. People take forever to respond to anything, and just tell you they can't help you because they're too busy. You have to beg for people's help because only one person seems to know how to do anything in each department. So when one person leaves, there's a huge gap and everyone just expects you to take ownership with no handoff, training or experience. Leadership has this unrealistic sense of expectations from newly onboarded people to know how to lead everything when there's been no training or documentation provided. There's no sense of company culture, no training/documentation, and leadership doesn't know how to establish a scalable process.

Pros

my individual team was amazing, and for the most part they trust you to manage your own time

Cons

when the economy turned, array hired some new operations people, which launched array into a year of nonstop organizational turbulence. the culture immediately shifted for the worse at this time as well. i felt like i was actively being sabotaged from doing my job by management. they said they would promote me but i would need to do the new promoted role for 5 months before i would get a pay increase. bonkers. i know several other people they did this to as well. array is in the death spiral, so if they’re not offering you a boatload of cash, don’t get on this sinking ship.

Pros

The employees are engaged and motivated to perform exemplary work for the company. Array consistently acquires new products and strives to enhance its API, refusing to settle for its current offerings. The technical support work presents challenges due to the distinct nature of each customer issue. Coworkers are consistently supportive and willing to assist. At Array, employees are afforded the opportunity to work on subjects and materials they are passionate about, rather than strictly adhering to their job description.

Cons

There is excessive turnover, power-hungry managers, and poor communication from high-level management. I had three different managers within a year, and I couldn't rely on my most recent manager for support in challenging situations. Array utilizes "unannounced meetings" as their communication approach. On a paid holiday, HR sent me a calendar invite without an agenda before the company conducted budget cut layoffs.
