Pros

Some of the people were so great to work with.

Cons

Prepare to work 40-60 hrs per week w/o overtime pay. Workloads were extremely high. Slot of people came and left because no work life balance.

Thank you for taking time to submit your review. Work/life balance is a value that we take seriously and one that’s discussed often among leadership because of its importance. We encourage any employee who feels this area is imbalanced to reach out to their supervisor or HR leader for support. Our leaders are directed to be receptive and open to these conversations, and if that is not the case, an HR leader can help. - Tony Ferguson, communications team

Pros

-some great people to work with depending on your team -Ascend Cares is great, but the real reason is still corporate politics nevertheless -starting pay is decent until you realize you should just go look for better -corporate office is a decent environment to work inside of

Cons

Oh boy hold on to your horses, this is gonna be a big one. -bonus? yeah don't even think about it, like others said, no bonus for 2 years now -rampant office drama, some people are just rats and snakes, i digress -morale? all time low, just about EVERYONE knows this regardless of what site you're at -we've lost so many superstar people in the past months, think about why people are leaving for greener pastures, use some logic -all these new locations opening only look good on paper, reality sets in when you dive deeper into numbers (why are we expanding so rapidly when we cant even manage our current plants and operations?) -work/life balance. With all these people leaving, it's very obvious that some people are taking more than one position load and many teams are running very lean. Help them out, stop spending money on empty ambitious low reward investments. Instead, invest into people and your culture to keep those who carry their load and more. -if you've worked at Celanese, just show up and they'll get down on their knees to give you everything you want to get you in the doors even during a hiring freeze. it's part of work morale to be telling everyone that they are winning the "war" between the two companies. -plant reliability and quality? yeah non-existent. good luck looking after 1950s equipment that are patched with duck tape and barely running -top down communication is completely disconnected. there is absolutely no feedback from the top because everything is so old fashioned and we're still in the stone ages compared to companies in the same industry, wake up and look at the shambles we're in and realize we need to take the company into the 21st century!

Pros

Work with some great people. Outside of the internal scholarship portion, Ascend Cares is really cool.

Cons

Constantly increases work load, but does not compensate for the additional time or sacrifices made to achieve this. Very poor bonus structure (assume you won't get it if you are comparing offers). Horrible cost of living adjustments (assume it to be half of inflation).

We know that work/life balance is a critical factor when it comes to having a successful company and engaged employees. It’s a topic that we take seriously and one that’s discussed often among leadership because of its importance. Every employee should feel the freedom to discuss workload and job expectations with their manager and agree on a healthy balance for their role. If you feel that you are not receiving this consideration, please reach out – I can connect you with a leader who does care and is open to your suggestions on how to improve. -Tony Ferguson, communications team
