      Pros

      Ascend makes chemicals and nylon. Looks like the business is strong, and a lot of focus recently on new applications for products. Leadership is very profit and safety focused, and results-oriented. Strong family culture where I work, and people on the shop floor care, very dedicated, strong work ethic. Big company with a small company feel.

      Cons

      Still trying to evolve from the Solutia bankruptcy, a lot of old equipment that must be maintained / kept safe. Office areas need a big upgrade.

      Great place to learn for coops and starting engineers.

      Cons

      Worst place to develop a career. The heritage managers will never let you grow into their jobs. They continue to grow old in key leader roles and continue to limit company growth, especially the technology leadership.

      Pros

      Everyone on the interview team was very welcoming and put me at ease. The interview agenda was very well organized. The benefits and compensation package that was offered exceeded my expectations.

      Cons

      The mere size of the plant and the reporting structure may be overwhelming for some. However, employees at Ascend seem to be very patient and willing to answer questions.
