Little carrot - Lots of stick

Pros

Paycheck is always deposited on time. Good work/life balance for most positions.

Cons

This is a "job", not a career opportunity. "Fleet Managers" are not empowered to make management decisions. Dishonesty in key positions is allowed to flourish here. Staffing was cut drastically, so workload increased significantly with no additional compensation. The "carrot on a stick" routine is very real at this company.

Pros

Pay better than minimum wage jobs, laid back atmosphere, they don't push for bills/hour like other freight companies.

Cons

As the economy got worse, workers who were making $12-$16 an hour and struggling for hours received a 10% pay cut, then another 5% pay cut within 6 months of one another instead of the upper management taking the brunt of the pay decrease, the workers who were at the bottom of the totem pole living paycheck to paycheck contributed the same percentage as executives who had firm security. No pushes toward educating workers or reason to make advancing in the company feel worthwhile.
