Not a bad place to work

Pros

Good compensation, some great people to work with. Good opportunities to change positions within the company and further your career.

Cons

Lack of focus/direction from senior management (which has changed dramatically since I was there, due to the sale of this company by Genworth). Long hours, with too much work and too many projects. The focus is supposedly on excellence, but the change comes too fast and doesn't allow for things to work as well as they should. Examples were too many product launches post 2008-09, with things that addressed yesterday's issues, without a good foundation in if the products would be appropriate.

Pros

Pay was above glassdoor average People were friendly Free parking Working in a high rise in downtown phoenix Come late, stay late Free lunch every so often Free coffee/ tea/ fountain drinks Very professional atmosphere Plenty of overtime opportunities M-F work schedule. Work on the weekends if you feel like it.

Cons

Your life will be the Office Space movie Monotony will become routine Wait in line to become a manager - probably 3-6 years. After that you just move around departments. Don't expect a down to earth conversation with anyone. - "How are you? "Good, how are you?" "Great, thanks" "see you tomorrow" Hard to get to know people outside of your team Contractors come and go Everyone is old
