Pros

Great benefits, including 5 weeks of paid vacation in an entry level job. Great new hire orientation that flew me out to the HQ to get to know the company and a few co-workers.

Cons

Absolutely NO new hire training in the job, one that is in a highly regulated field. An absentee manager who only gave feedback to criticize, never help, coach or mentor me. I never once got credit for my work or accomplishments. He didn't have my back when I was criticized for making beginner mistakes in a field that was new to me. But he did tell me frequently that he thought he was going to be fired, something that stressed me out worrying if all of our jobs were in jeopardy if he did. I was just out of college in my first job and felt like a failure even though I was working 10 hours a day. I was the only person in the office younger than 40 and, honestly, it was incredibly lonely and boring - no one to learn from or ask questions of. I put in time at night and on weekends to keep up and try to teach myself the job, without telling my boss because I was hourly and not eligible for OT, but still criticized for my work. In the end I was told I had worked on the wrong things and was fired. I never once had a one-on-one with my boss or any formal training or coaching. All the people who had, at first, encouraged me, turned their backs on me. Honestly, it left a scar and has shaped my opinion about what corporate America is all about. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone, especially a new college grad. This is certainly NOT a company set up for GenZ success.
