Pros

Benefits are nice, but a highly political environment in HR and leadership is not supportive. Whispers turn into rumors and assumptions become facts, ultimately derailing careers. Do not recommend this as a positive work environment. Dreaded going into work and everyone is afraid that their job could be eliminated. Run.

Cons

Pipeline is not strong, overspending is common for this small pharma company, decisions are made in Japan and can frustrate US employees, and the corporate politics make working here miserable.

Hyper Political Culture Interferes with Quality Work

Pros

Astellas has some of the best benefits and salary structures in the area. Astellas also does a great deal to encourage diversity and community service.

Cons

Culture promotes a "what have you done for me lately" vibe that has everyone busy but few working on things that matter. Political skill will determine how well you survive in this location, especially as budgets get tighter. Seems like the best and brightest move to a healthier environment while the average or below average folk stay to milk the slightly higher salaries.

1) very good benefits: healthcare , 401K , etc 2) Many nice people 3) Nice office

Cons

1) HR and Compliance Departments are power hungry 2) Incompetent “good ole boy” senior management 3). The constant lying + deceitful business practices 4) Many people in senior management are not too bright, ruthless, and incompetent. That makes for a bad work environment.
