Pros

Excellent training and the opportunity to learn the job from some of the best consultants in the city. Generally speaking, perm team consists of some very bright people who are very capable. Good approach to recruitment, quality driven and research focused.

Cons

Ridiculous work/life balance that needs to be addressed. Hours for perm team are officially 8-6, but expect to be at your desk for 07:30 and in the office until 20:00. Nothing productive happens after half 6, it's just a case of waiting out management. Inter-team politics and favoritism from management.

Pros

Aston Carter works with top Investment Banks and you get to speak to candidates who are at the top of their field. Promotion transparency - you know exactly what you need to do to be promoted from day one.

Cons

Low base salary. However, once you become a consultant the variable part is good and depends 100% on your placement achievements.
