Pros

-The best part of my period in Astranis is meeting with and working with an extremely sharp and humble group of people that motivated me to come to work. I felt grateful. -It is guaranteed that your work will create an impact on the products that the company is trying to make. You will be getting a lot of responsibilities no matter what your previous experiences are. This might be a bit overwhelming at the beginning but you'll find a lot of encouragement and help from the extremely sharp people around you. -There is no blaming culture. Even if you think that you made a mistake, you are encouraged to step up and tell what has happened and what needs to be done to make it corrected. I witnessed this by myself and I was appreciated. -C-Suite folks are nice and approachable persons. They are doing the environment really comfortable.

Cons

-Astranis shares the cons of most startups, I believe. Sometimes I was having some trouble balancing work and my life after work. Extensive use of slack was making me a bit nervous during the hours that we were not expected to work (yes, there is no expectation to work but slack/emails don't stop). -No 401k matching, no bonus. Delayed raises. -Not well-structured promotion mechanisms although the company has initiated work on that. I could not figure out how we can get promoted.

Pros

There is absolutely nowhere else I would rather be. As I recent graduate, I wanted a very technically challenging job where my work would have a large impact on the company. Astranis has given me this and more. My work starting day one has been meaningful and impactful. Astranis is still a small company so everyone's (even interns) work is critical for the company. Additionally I receive mentorship and guidance from the best engineers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I also feel very comfortable with my peers. I feel like I teach them and they teach me constantly. The culture of Astranis is a great mix of fast paced startup and generous work-life balance. The company is very close and social. Social events are frequent and bring together people who normally don't cross paths often. I have never sensed any hostility between employees even when professional opinions differ. The mission of Astranis is also honorable and motivational. Working for a space company not in defense is refreshing. Great location in the city. It is very close to Caltrain, Bart, Muni, and the highway exit. Also it is surrounded by many startups you may have heard. San Francisco is also a really cool city. I enjoy exploring the city on weekends and meeting people from all over the world.

Cons

Astranis shares the cons of most startups. Some weeks require extra hours to meet a critical deadline. Pay is less than big tech companies. There aren't company wide standardization around project management yet but its getting better.

Pros

Astranis started with a noble mission, to provide internet to those who don't have it.

Cons

Alas, they fell into the money pit and decided to go towards Military work almost exclusively thinking that that is where the money is. This is 100% why I left. I felt betrayed and many others feel that way as well (and also left).
