Horrible environment, frat boy culture

Pros

If you are desperate for work, it will pay the bills.

Cons

The people there are rude, aggressive, and want to see people fail. There is a definite sexist, good ol' boy attitude. Serious lack of diversity. Managers hire people who are just like them, and fire anyone with a different opinion. They really don't care if you are happy or feel threatened. You will fill a seat and are a meaningless worker to them.

Very Questionable Business Practices

Pros

Don't really have any. Some nice contact people I guess.

Cons

Very Inferior Products. Hold time for customers is as high as 30 minutes. It looks like they were not prepared to take on the business volume that they inherited from AVIVA. They seem very understaffed and management policies are geared towards very short term revenues at the cost of long term business relationships. Can'y imagine them staying in business unless they significantly change their model.

Pros

In the department I was in we were supposed to have "flex time" - up to 4 hours a week that we can use for doc appt and such - then make up that time later in the week. Good Location

Cons

Dept felt very micro managed, but had a very large lack of communication from the direct dept manager and team lead. No wiggle room on "tardies". So if you logged into your system 1 minute late, you received a Tardy even if you were to stay a minute late at the end of the shift Pay seemed to be tremendously less than other annuity companyies for this type of job. Like a couple thousand less. Manditory OT never ending. Started in dept in June 2014 and still on it thru March 2015 and there was no talk of it ending soon as the department was still extremely out of standard. Felt as if there really was no work life balance. No "fun" in department. Only time we had a food day or anything for birthdays was if it was planned by a member of the team. This idea of "birthday treats" or a "celebration committee" was discussed with mgmt and seemed to be unimportant. However, coming from other companies that did this sort of thing, it seemed to motivate the team a bit, and made people feel a bit more appreciated.
