New Hire - 90 Day Review

Pros

Everyone is so friendly and willing to help when necessary. There is a lot of opportunity for growth which is important in ones career. Athens is very family oriented which is amazing and there are a lot of activities going on always to help encourage health and even earn extra money.

Cons

Work load can be intense at times especially when you're being sent 90% of what needs to be completed an hour before the end of the day. Certain items are time stamped and its evident that the work could've been sent over earlier so you're not having to rush or worry that you're not going to complete it all.

Pros

Salary and benefits are decent but quickly are becoming less competitive. If you like independently working with little to no oversight until you mess up- this is your place. There are no metrics or relevant data measured and performance reviews are arbitrary and mostly based on how much the manager or HR likes you.

Cons

If you’re mediocre they will allow you to continue to flounder and bring down your team without taking any steps to fix it with additional training or support. Every attempt to bring change or ideas to the table is either ignored or reacted to badly. Management is reactive not proactive. They do not take constructive criticism or make improvements until something has gone wrong. Many supervisors in management are inept at best or dangerously undertrained/ not knowledgeable. Oversight is very behind and management tends to blame rather than support. Nepotism is obvious at all levels.

Your review indicates you are a current employee who has been here more than 20 years, which is a small pool of employees and as such, we are very disheartened by your feelings on Athens and our culture, as we strive for a positive work experience. We do encourage you to reach out to your HR Business Partner or the EVP of HR to discuss your concerns directly as we want to be sure they are addressed immediately.

Pros

Honestly, Athens is easily the best company I have worked for in the industry. It is my first TPA experience but Athens really is a family ran company. Most divisions will be allowing work from home or a hybrid schedule once we return to the office. The company really does care about their employees. We work hard but management recognizes that hard work. There is a level of understanding when things are busy and management has your back. The company is incredibly transparent and hosts quarterly calls where they go through claim counts and financials. It is a growing company and it is a great time to get in if you want to advance your career.

Cons

With growth comes spikes in volume. That is true in all companies. The nice thing about Athens is that there is always a concentration on making sure workloads are manageable.

Thank you for your review! We've grown and hired more adjusters and caseloads have settled. You're right, this industry does ebb and flow.
