Pros

Atkins is great at recruiting (though poor at retention), so you are surrounded by highly skilled co-workers with great CV’s. Atkins wins great work and you get to work on some once in a lifetime projects, however this is not due to the Senior Management or Directors, this is due to the hard work put in by middle to lower management as well as its employees.

Cons

Atkins does not look after its employees in anyway. Only very Senior Management and Directors get looked after, for not ever really doing much. The people at this level are mostly blaggers and do not know their left had from their right hand. They also keep reorganising the company and the structure for no real visible benefits. Atkins only care about the profit margins it has promised to its stockholders and have no loyalty to its staff, especially since the new CEO joined – Uwe Krueger. I know of not one staff member in the London Head office that has met him or heard him speak. He has not had any presentations to any of the London based staff. Obviously he deems himself way too important to talk to any of his employees.

Pros

Work/life balance is good

Cons

Worst place to work especially the HR dept. People out there are extremely bad, non-cooperative and have non-supportive attitude.

Pros

The team you work directly with will be great.

Cons

- Majority of work will be PowerPoints - Little creative work - Very corporate - Have to be 100% productive as have timesheets to book in an archaic system - Too many meetings, little time to actually get productive work done - If any family emergencies, expected to make time up due to timesheet or asked what you are going to book that time too - Everyone is overworked and overstretched, an unhappy workforce with many people leaving. Not considerate the toll this has on people's mental well-being. - Never have downtime to learn new things or train - No suggestions are listened to - Salaries are low compared to market - People are randomly promoted and most the time it is based off favoritism and not hard work - Not flexible, even when working from home you have to ask if it's okay where you work even if you're still in the UK - 40 hour week and no flexi time when rest of Atkins is incredibly flexible (8-4 instead of 9-6)
