Pros

The leadership is there to support you if you have any issues, and they typically stay pretty hands-off otherwise. It’s nice having some freedom to execute the job in the way you like. As long as it gets done correctly & on time, everyone is happy.

Cons

The nature of this job (construction) means that you’ll have a very erratic schedule, and you typically won’t know your assignments until 5pm the day before. You also may spend a lot of time driving, or staying in hotels. It’s the same at any testing company, at least ATL provides a company truck and pays for your hotels up front.

Pros

The job title on your resume.

Cons

Work “Schedule,” pay, management, faulty equipment, hours. You don’t find out what or where your assignment is until 5pm the night before and that could be anything from a half day down the street or a 10hr shift 2 hrs away. Also if you think you’re going to be an engineer, geologist etc, you will not be. They will hire you as an engineer etc and use you to test concrete in the rain and the snow. Do not bother, go work for another company that will use you what they hired you for and will pay your accordingly. I originally thought the pay was excellent but you will be the lowest paid person on every Job site they send you to. Overall a terrible experience, I really wouldn’t advise anyone to work here. ATL wouldn’t survive a Union which is why it desperately needs one. I didn’t meet a single employee that didn’t already have one foot out the door.

Atlantic Testing Laboratories Response

On behalf of ATL, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We welcome and appreciate all feedback, as it helps us learn more about our business. We strive to ensure our employees know they are valued, and we are sorry you did not have a good experience. Due to the nature of the construction industry and the intermittent need for the services provided by ATL, scheduling for the following day’s jobs does not occur until the late afternoon each day. We recognize this can be difficult and do everything we can to communicate assignments as timely as possible, while maintaining a high level of service to our clients. Again, thank you for your feedback.
