Pros

Short commute and work from home options

Cons

Corporate management is out of touch with the local day to day business of its offices. They claim to lead with heart but when decisions are made in a vacuum that affect the employees, the processes that have been in place for years are compromised and leads to unhappy clients. Employees are treated as numbers and with the stroke of a pen, can be eliminated from the workforce. Much of these employees are supporting technical experts in their fields of expertise. For instance, when accounting staff that handle collections, Certified Payroll, and general invoicing are cut, the duties fall on the engineers and geologists to complete. This causes a fall in morale. The place affects ones mental and physical health and I do not wish that upon anyone.

Pros

Can generally expect to work on a variety of jobs and gain new experiences

Cons

Management, especially in the Virginia Beach office, is lacking. You will get micromanaged and constantly reminded that you are there solely to make your bosses money. Growth and promotions opportunities are limited and salaries are not competitive.

Pros

Decent balance between office and fieldwork, decent pay, and important skills learned.

Cons

Involved very physically demanding work outdoors, out of state travel, and many responsibilities, from materials testing to asbestos and lead inspections to indoor air sampling. Limited environmental/geological work.
