Pros

- good work/life balance - decent exposure to clients, very good learning oppotunities - competent sales, delivery leaders at sr. middle management levels and below - strong financial services player in the market

Cons

- Very weak and short-sighted senior management leadership in general - Poor investments in building company to compete for future - highly subjective and flawed review process for identifying next level leaders - poor paymaster, unable to hold back 'A' level talent

Pros

Comfortable work environment, without much pressure to outperform/over-deliver like in many of the outsourcing companies in India. The amount of responsibility to be undertaken is fairly in the hands of the employee. So your growth is dependent on you in Syntel.

Cons

Since your growth is much dependent on you, if you stop thinking about your career/personal development/defnition and achievement of your goals, no one else will, and you might feel/get a feeling of monotony/no personal/professional growth.

Works in fits and starts. Suddenly focussed on ERP. Hence it worked for a while.

Cons

Huge attrition. People use it as a breath-catcher in professional life. Senior management non-existent. Vision/Investment - unheard of.
